WIND STORM LAST NIGHT!

What CRAZY weather we seem to be having here in MI. The whole family woke up at 4 am today to the sound of some of our siding BLOWING OFF the house. What in the world? Anyway it isn't horrible but definitly something we are going to have to get fixed quick so we have a few descisions to make. We have never loved the color of our house....so we might check into residing it ALL or more realistically probably adding cedar shake to a few spots in the front...hmmmmm!

CELEBRATION...

We had a great Christmas. Aunt EB arrived from NYC on Tuesday night and we celebrated Chrstimas Eve with the DeVries Family. Christmas afternoon and evening were spent with my Grandpa Tamminga and that whole clan and then we celebrated with the DeVries side on Saturday. The kids loved every second of it and are now KIND OF recovering until the next celebration: NEW YEAR'S EVE!

Christmas Morning

Our family celebrated together Christmas morning. We woke up and got the kids all excited about opening their presents under the tree and celebrating Jesus' Birthday : ) Sierra made it downstairs a few moments before the rest of us and we found her RIPPING into all the presents. Needless to say she knew exactly what was going on this year and couldn't wait to open everything in sight!

SNOW FORT

James built the kids a super fun snow fort in all the PILES AND PILES of snow we HAD : ) He used the snowblower to make a trail all around our front yard.

12 week appointment

I had my 12 week appointment for the new baby on Tuesday. Things looked great! At first she couldn't find the heartbeat (which I don't think is uncommon this early) so I got to have an ultrasound which was amazing. "He" looked so cute : ) and his little heart was beating away. "He" also was kicking and squirming and waving his hands so that was fun to see. I lost a little bit of weight, which is NOT NORMAL at all in my pregnancy...guess I'll have to work on eating : ) oh shoot!

Simon's 3 yr. check-up

Simon went to the doctor this week and did a great job for his 3 year check-up, except he didn't want to get measured.....oh, well! He measured APPROXIMATELY 39 1/2 (90th percentile) inches and weighed in just under 35 pounds (80th percentile).

SIMON IS THREE!

Wow, my little boy turned three years old today! Simon was loving having a birthday. Tons of people called to wish him a Happy Birthday and we took him to the mall and out for dinner which has become the tradition for birthday's at our house. Yesterday, Grandma and Grandpa DeVries took him to the mall where he got to make a monket at build-a-bear and ride the Bob the builder toy by the food court....oh and his favorite, they let him stoll through the Disney store and he picked out a set of Cars cars that he talked G & G right into buying for him : ) He was sooo thrilled when he got hom. AND tomorrow we have a birthday party for him at our house with all of the family! He is one SPECIAL little guy!

Potty Training 201...

Yes, 201! If you remember we tried to potty train Simon this past summer and it just didn't work because he wasn't ready. WELL he is now pretty much potty trained and doing great. He still wears his diapers to bed and I put on a pull-up for naps and he is still working on #2 in the big boy potty : ) BUT overall is doing much better this time and really seems to get it. YEAH!!!!

HARVEST DAY

Simon and Sierra really enjoyed Halloween. Grandma Oosterhouse and Grandma and Grandpa Grooters came to our house to celebrate as well. Simon handed out all of the candy this year which was funny to watch. Some kids got 1 piece out of him and some kids got a huge handful of 8 or 9 pieces. Guess they had to learn life isn't fair : )
We went through a lot of CANDY and had to refill the bowl at one point. Simon helped, and I told him to take it back to the living room for me. Next thing we knew, James was asking where the candy bowl was. We found it with SIMON, who was up in his bedroom with the entire bowl of candy hidden away in his bed. The little stinker!
The kids also went trick-or-treating at our next door neighbors house (they don't really get it yet, so felt no need to go further around the block) and were thrilled with the candy bars they got there!

"All DUMB"

This is Sierra's new saying when she is finished doing anything so we here it ALL the time : ) "All Dumb, mommy, All DUMB". It is cute and funny at the same time and she doesn't get that she should be saying "All done"!

Tech Grandpa

My grandpa is in his 80's and decided he needed to learn something new this year : ) He had my uncles buy a computer for him and is now learning how to use it. I get a kick out of being able to send an email to my GRANDPA!

Into the tutu stash

My mom and I were working on PETUNIAS stuff today and of course the kids got into the tutus, even SIMON and you can see. They paraded around for awhile and even learned they could fight with tutus on. HOW SPECIAL!

Getting ready for a discgolf lesson from DADDY!

James took the kiddies to play discgolf with him this past Saturday. It was a great break for me and they all had a ton of fun throwing daddies disks around : )

Lewis Farm Market and Petting Farm...

We went to this awesome place 2 weekends ago with Grandpa and Grandma Grooters and had a great time. We also went earlier this past summer and had such a great time we looked for any excuse to go back. The kids LOVE the animals and there is just a ton to do. They walked through a pumpkin patch, rode a little kiddie train, played with toys, ate cookies, fed and pet the animals...... I can't figure out how to get the pics out of shutterfly to view here BUT I think if you click this link you can view the album? http://share.shutterfly.com/share/received/detail.sfly?sid=0AYtWTFqzaMWL9w&imageIndex=0&fid=15a8f0cc21bc670e

Simon's favorite things...

One of Simon's favorite things right now are TRACTORS! He sat contentedly for an hour while daddy mowed the lawn!

2 new trees!

James and Simon planted 2 new trees in our backyard this week. James picked out the Autumn Blaze Maple and I picked out the River Birch! I think they look pretty good : )

Little Sisters...

Simon got his first REAL taste of what having a little sister is all about yesterday. He was spinning a knob on one of the drawers in our kitchen yesterday and I told him to stop doing it. In normal fashion he also decided he would make sure his little sister wouldn't do it either. So he held his hand over the knob so she couldn't get to it. Sierra freaked out and with both hands grabbed two wads of Simon's hair and pulled for all she was worth. AND she wouldn't let go. Simon was bawling his eyes out (I think half because it probably hurt and half because he was so shocked). Being the good mom that I am, I had to stop laughing before I could get her hands out of his hair and make her apologize to Simon. SIMON WELCOME TO YOUR LITTLE SISTER!

Nelson's Farm Market

The Kids enjoyed a sprinkle chocolate donut My flexible daughter, not only does she just play with her hair she can play with it with her feet!
There is a little farm market with a small barn and some animals near Newago that James and I have been visiting before we got married. We try to go a couple of times a year and always bring home some delicious treats. My mom went with us yesterday. Here are a few pics.
